This has been a project I’ve been kicking around for a long time. It was born from my years of blogging over at StorageTexan.com and vTexan.com. I’ve always looked at blogging as a means to dive deeper than I could during the meetings and conference sessions I was delivering and I hope this new endeavor can build on that.
As a Solutions Architect Manager here at AWS, there is clearly a desire for others on the team to share their learnings, ‘dive deep’ into projects they are working on, or just an overall desire to share what they know with others. As a people leader, I’m also striving to encourage my team to look around corners, figure out ways to scale, and create a brand for themselves.
The idea for GetNerdyin30.com (minutes) is to give my team a consolidated outlet to share their knowledge with others. The goal is if you have 30 minutes or less, you have time to learn something. In some of those cases, and true to form for those that have followed my blogging over the years, if the content might go over the 30mins, we encourage the writers to break them up into more bite size/30mins pieces and make it a multi-part build guide.
Additionally, I ask all contributors to include the following note. It’s essential for those that are taking the time to share their knowledge, that readers understand this is not an AWS owned site, so keep that in mind — with that said — here is the note:
I work for AWS but all of the opinions, ideas and solution implementations in my blogs are purely of my own.
With all that said, I’m extremely excited to launch this new endeavor. If you don’t mind, please like and follow the authors!
Thanks,
Tommyt aka vTexan
